STUDENT CERTIFICATION

 

Upon successful completion of our 6-day Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage training, you will gain Student Certification. There are no tests for this level, it only requires that you attend all of the training and participate to the best of your ability, with care and consideration for all participants in the training.

 

What this allows:

 

You will have the skills to give a full 90-minute Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage.

If you would like to practice and only give to family and friends, you do not need to get membership or insurance and you can do this for as long as you would like to.

 

If you would like to charge for your sessions, people with a Student Certificate are able to gain membership with IICT* (International Institute of Complimentary Therapists) as well as insurance through their affiliate insurer, both at Student Level. This means that you can practice Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage, and you can charge at student prices for up to one year after gaining membership/insurance. If you want to continue charging for your sessions after one year, you will then need to gain Practitioner Certification. 

 

*If you are already working as a therapist and you have insurance, you should be able to add Lomilomi to your modalities. Please check with your membership provider.

• Private FB group for graduates - Hawaiian Wisdom is shared here, and this is a great place to connect with other graduates and ask questions

• Messenger/WhatsApp chat group for the area that you live in, to connect with other local students/practitioners to organise swaps, share experiences/ask questions etc

 

• Quarterly ZOOM gatherings for all graduates (any level) where Hawaiian Wisdom is shared, and you can also meet other graduates and ask questions

 

• Mentoring with Charlie Snow through online Paʻa Counselling Sessions, with an Ohana discount

 

• Referral code discount for IICT membership

PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATION

 

To gain Practitioner Certification with The Blisstitute of Living Aloha, you need to be assessed and show that you are offering sessions at a professional level. This requires practice with giving for a time that feels Pono (right) for you, and you can ask to be assessed when you feel that you are ready. This needs to happen within a year of gaining Student Level membership with IICT, and you will be required to provide either written or verbal reports of at least 5 Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage sessions.

Information about Practitioner Assessment CRITERIA

 

The assessment can happen in any of the following ways (individual choice):

 

1.  Attending another 6-day training (50% discount for all returning students)

2.  Attending a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage refresher workshop

3.  Giving a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage to a Senior Lomilomi Practitioner​

 

 

What this allows:

 

People with a Practitioner Certificate are able to gain membership with IICT (International Institute of Complimentary Therapists) and insurance through their affiliate insurer, both at Practitioner Level. This means that you can practice Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage professionally, and you can charge industry standard prices.

What you will have access to at Practitioner Level:

 

• You will continue to have access to everything that you had access to from Student Level (this is all ongoing)

 

• You will receive referrals for Lomilomi clients from The Blisstitute of Living Aloha where it is appropriate (based on location, client needs etc)

 

 

 

 

BLISSTITUTE PRACTITIONER

 

A Blisstitute Practitioner is someone who is on The Blisstitute of Living Aloha website and represents our work in Pono (right) ways. Not everyone who gains practitioner certification is invited to be a part of The Blisstitute Team. This is reserved for people who are working at an exceptionally high level of professionalism, as well as having a professional set up where they are able to take bookings, and they need to agree to work within our professional codes of conduct for Blisstitute Practitioners.

 

These practitioners also need to have a trauma informed practice, use inclusive language, be willing to work with all genders, and hold an absolute space of Aloha (unconditional love, compassion, empathy and non-judgement) for all clients at all times.

 

To be considered for this level, you need to give a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage to a Senior Practitioner, who will communicate with the founder of The Blisstitute of Living Aloha (Charlie Snow) around the appropriateness of you being invited onto the website to be a part of The Blisstitute Team.

• Two ZOOM gatherings per year for ongoing professional development

TRAINING ASSISTANT

 

Each 6-day training has an assistant to support the teacher with all of the background work that is required for creating a smooth flowing and safely held space for the duration of the training.

 

Anyone who is a Blisstitute Practitioner is welcome to assist a training, in a voluntary position. 

 

Assistants have an incredible opportunity to learn from immersing themselves in this role. This inevitably helps to deepen their Lomilomi practice, as well as their understanding of and connection with Hawaiian Wisdom teachings and the way of Aloha.

BLISSTITUTE SENIOR LOMILOMI PRACTITIONER

 

Someone who has been a Blisstitute Practitioner for a minimum of three years, has been working consistently as a professional Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage giver for this time, and who also displays a solid knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian Wisdom in the context of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage.

 

Senior Lomilomi Practitioners show that they utilise Hawaiian Wisdom in their own lives, and they have clear communication with all aspects of The Blisstitute of Living Aloha.

 

Senior Lomilomi Practitioners are able to assess students for Practitioner Certification, and through this they show their ongoing support to our growing Lomilomi Ohana as well as to each person that they assess, via feedback that is shared with Aloha.

TEACHER TRAINING

 

This training program is currently being developed, and will include written/oral assessments prior to the face-to-face training, on key Hawaiian concepts such as Akua, Pule, Aloha, Ohana, Pono, Mana, Naʻau and Lomilomi. There will be a 1-week in person training as well as ongoing support, including Charlie Snow assisting your first 6-day Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage training that you teach yourself.

 

An application is required for this level, and is reserved for people who meet the following criteria:

 

• Senior Lomilomi Practitioner (minimum of one year)

 

• Has assisted at least one 6-day Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage training

 

• Displays an ongoing ability to work with Hawaiian Wisdom inside and outside of  the Lomilomi room

 

• Uses Hawaiian language that is relevant to Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage

 

• Is an exceptional representative of Aloha and all of our Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage and Hawaiian Wisdom teachings

 

• Shows ongoing dedication to their path with Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage through learning more about Hawaiian Spirituality via any of the following: Hawaiian books, Hawaiian Kumu, further training with The Blisstitute of Living Aloha and/or spending time in Hawaiʻi connecting with culture

 

• Shows capacity to take on a teaching role and hold space for groups, with connection to Akua (spirit), presence and humility

 

• Is willing to work within the guidelines of The Blisstitute of Living Aloha as a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage teacher

SPIRITUAL HAWAIIAN LOMILOMI MASSAGE TEACHER

 

Someone who has successfully moved through all of the above pathways and has completed the teacher training program. A teacher of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage shows ongoing commitment to living in Aloha and to sharing the sacred art of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage with reverence, along with full respect for our lineage, whilst following all Pono protocols.

 

What you will have access to as a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage Teacher:

 

• IICT training approval, allowing you to give certificates to your own students

 

• Use of The Blisstitute of Living Aloha logo and promotional materials

 

• Your Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage trainings will be advertised on The Blisstitute of Living Aloha website

 

• Ongoing support/mentoring from Charlie Snow
