Our professional pathways are designed to honour your growth at every stage.

Whether you wish to share lomilomi with your loved ones, offer sessions in a professional capacity,

or step into teaching, The Institute of Living Aloha provides clear pathways with ongoing guidance, community support, and opportunities for deepening your practice.

STUDENT CERTIFICATION

After completing our 6-day Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage Training, you will receive Student Certification. There are no exams — only your presence, participation, and care for yourself and others.

What this means for you:

You will graduate with the skills and confidence to offer a full 90-minute Lomilomi session.
You may share Lomilomi with family and friends for practice, without needing insurance or professional membership.
(Please note: this is at your discretion — The Institute of Living Aloha recommends that all practitioners, even during practice sessions, consider appropriate insurance coverage.)
If you wish to offer paid sessions, you are eligible to apply for Student Membership with the International Institute of Complementary Therapists (IICT).
- This membership includes access to student-level insurance.
- You may offer paid sessions at student rates for up to one year.
- After this time, Practitioner Certification is required to continue offering paid sessions.

A growing Lomilomi ʻOhana (family of practitioners) to learn and grow with

Practitioner Certification Pathway

When you feel ready to offer Lomilomi professionally, you may apply to become a Certified Practitioner, who is recognised by The Institute of Living Aloha. This pathway supports you to step into your kuleana with clarity, integrity and aloha.

Pa'a Session (before Assessment)

Before your practical assessment, you will book a Pa‘a Session when you feel ready.

This session is a time to reflect on your journey so far, where your Pa‘a is within you, and how you want to bring this work into the world. You will need to have completed five Lomilomi practice sessions (with written or verbal notes/reports) prior to booking. This is also a space to ask questions, explore growth edges, and receive guidance to ensure you are grounded and prepared for the assessment process.

Practitioner Assessment Options

After your Pa‘a Session, your assessment can take place in one of the following ways:

Attend another 6-Day Training (50% returning student discount)
Attend a Refresher Workshop
Give a Lomilomi session to a Senior Practitioner for assessment

Once Certified

You will be able to:

Apply for IICT Practitioner Level membership + professional insurance
Receive a referral code for discounted IICT membership
Charge professional rates for your sessions
Continue to access all Student-level benefits
Be eligible to receive client referrals from The Blisstitute

SENIOR PRACTITIONER

This level is for those who have worked consistently as a professional lomilomi practitioner for at least three years, receive excellent client feedback, and embody Hawaiian wisdom both in and beyond the lomilomi space.

Senior Practitioners:

Assess students for Practitioner Certification
Act as mentors within our growing lomilomi ʻohana
Support the lineage of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage with aloha and pono

TRAINING ASSISTANT

Practitioners may step into the role of Training Assistant at our 6-day trainings.

This voluntary position offers the chance to learn deeply by holding space and supporting the smooth flow of training. It is a powerful way to grow your own practice while immersing yourself further in Hawaiian wisdom and the way of aloha.

TEACHER TRAINING

Currently in development, this pathway is designed for Senior Practitioners who feel called to share this work and embrace the kuleana of being a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage teacher with The Institute of Living Aloha. It will be offered every two years, and will be limited to four people per training.

The first one is confirmed for 2026 and is already full.

The Training Includes:

Written and oral assessments on Hawaiian concepts, including Akua, Pule, Aloha, ʻOhana, Pono, Mana, Naʻau, and Lomilomi
A 1-week in-person teacher training
Ongoing mentoring and supervision
Support from Charlie Snow during your first 6-day training as a teacher

Applicant Requirements:

Have assisted in at least one 6-day training
Demonstrate deep understanding and embodiment of Hawaiian wisdom and language
Show the ability to hold groups with humility, presence, and connection to Akua

SPIRITUAL HAWAIIAN LOMILOMI MASSAGE TEACHER

This is the highest level of our pathway. Teachers are those who have walked each step with dedication, humility, and aloha, and are ready to carry forward the sacred lineage of lomilomi.

Teachers have access to:

IICT approval to certify their own students
Use of The Institute of Living Aloha logo and promotional materials
Promotion of their trainings through The Institute of Living Aloha website
Ongoing mentoring and supervision support from Charlie Snow

At every stage, you are supported, guided, and welcomed as ʻohana.
